The "Lock viewer" feature in V.connct restricts viewer actions like chat and microphone use, promoting focus during presentations.

Only moderators can activate this feature to maintain control over the session flow. This guide will help you to lock or unlock the users features through out the session.

There are two options to Lock or Unlock:

The first option:

1- Click on the “Gear” icon in the user panel.

2- Select “Lock viewer”.

- The Lock viewer screen will appear:

  1. Webcam: restricts viewers' ability to share their webcams.
  2. See other viewers' webcams: when enabled, only the moderator's incoming webcam will be visible to viewers, while all viewers' webcams are still visible to the moderator - this setting also reduces the bandwidth for individual viewers.
  3. Microphone: restricts a viewer's ability to share their mic. If there are already mics joined in the session when this lock setting is applied, all joined mics will be automatically muted and locked restricting a viewer's ability to unmute.
  4. Public Chat: restricts viewer's ability to post to the public chat.
  5. Private Chat: restricts viewer's ability to send private chat messages to other viewers unless a moderator sends a private chat. Viewers can reply to private chat messages from moderators when the private chat is locked.
  6. Users List: restricts viewer's ability to see other attendees/number of attendees in the user's list. When enabled, viewers will only see their own users' icons and the moderator.
  7. Viewers cursors: to be able to see the cursors of the other users while using the whiteboard or on the files uploaded.
  8. Viewers annotations: to be able to see the other user’s annotation in the whiteboard or on the files uploaded.

3- Turn on or off the toggle of the option.

4- Click on “Apply”.

The second option:

1- Click on any user, a drop menu will appear.

2- Select “Unlock/ Lock user”.

Under the user’s name will appear if he is locked on unlocked.

Note: When a student is unlocked, all lock settings for that student are disabled (including Private Chat) and the opposite.

Note: The above steps are also applicable on the mobile app
